“FUNKY GIRL” Painting

This acrylic on canvas painting is a whopping 5ft tall and 4ft wide, it’s so large that I can’t even fit it in my car— it has to get strapped to the top! This is my latest piece of art I’ve made, and although the design of the character is simpler than my usual designs, I wanted the color of this piece to be the star of the show. I designed this character off of a girl’s outfit I saw, it stuck with me so I decided to paint it! and since I am always working with purple and yellow I thought this would be a fun opportunity to switch it up to blue and orange. I also added little info boxes including the scientific name of the species I cartooned, almost like its an infographic you would see in a science book. I like to play with the idea of mixing something very cartooned and stylized with something people wouldn’t normally think of as being “art.” Mixing fine art with some design. (2023)
